Crusty Garlic Cheese Rolls
Ingredients
Dough
1 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Tablespoons butter
3 Tablespoons sugar
3 Cups flour
2 Tablespoon nonfat dry milk powder
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Topping
1/4 Cup melted butter
1 clove crushed garlic
2 Tablespoons of grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
- I use a Kitchen Aid mixer and put the ingredients into the bowl in the order that is listed for the dough. Mix and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let rise for about an hour or until doubled.
- Once dough has risen, turn out dough onto a lightly floured cutting board or countertop. Gently roll dough into a rope that measures 24 inches. Grease two 8 inch pie pans or round cake pans. I used my 14 1/2" X 10 1/2" bar pan.
- With a sharp knife, divide dough into 24 pieces {hint: first cut dough into 12 equal pieces then cut each of those in half. you can also use a ruler and measure each piece to 1 inch!}
- Shape into a ball and place in the prepared pan. In a small bowl, combine butter and garlic; pour over rolls (I used my brush to brush each roll). sprinkle with cheese.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 - 60 minutes until doubled. { Hint: warm oven slightly for one minute then turn it off, place the covered dough in the over to rise. Remove from oven to preheat! }
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes until golden. Remove from oven, cut apart and ENJOY!
